2009 - Siku Kumi Ndege Ndogo ya camp Maga Ambo Tsavo
Safari 10 days / 9 nights : This is an unusual safari primarily in an open observation aircraft, accompanied by a 4 x 4 vehicle. All along we will fly in turns and we pass the nights under the stars, simply with nature. The camps will be simple, with igloo type tents, and you will be fully involved in preparing the camp and helping with the meals and cleaning.
This safari is involved in the patrolling of the rhinoceros in the high protection zone, observation of movements of elephant, and looking for any non authorized intruders in this vast part of Tsavo.
Day 1
We Come and collect you from the international airport, and transfer by car to our private airstrip south of Nairobi, where you find the open plane and the 4 x 4 waiting,
Take off for a superb flight to Kalema, right in the heart of The Great Rift Valley, between the stunning Lakes Magadi and Natron. The details will be such that the plane will meet the vehicle at certain places, to change pasangers and take lunch in between flights. Set up camp in Kilima, not far from a river and our Masai friends. Everyone pitching their tent and arranging beds for the night. End of the day with flight over the incredible lake magadi and her amazing colours. Dinner and night in the bush camp.
Day 2
After breakfast, a beautiful flight towards lake Natron, which will make your eyes pop out. The colours made by the concentration of algae, feeding in the alkaline waters, and the pelicans and flamingos are totally sublime.A Great visual feast ! After lunch later in the afternoon, a walk on foot. Dinner ad night in our bush camp.
Day 3
After breakfast, take down the camp, back up and leave by plane and vehicle to Ibisil, the road and flight over superb landscape. We over fly the Eastern edge of the great rift valley and her dramatic cliffs. At certain points we make contact with the vehicle to change places, and lunch en route to the Namanga Plateau. Arrive in a private concession near ibisil. Set up camp, take a walk, dinner and night in the bush camp.
Day 4
After breakfast, pack up camp, and leave by 4 x 4 and plane towards Amboseli park, and we change places during the way. Arriving in the park either by palne or by road, we pass through the amboseli swamps, at the base of Kilimanjaro. Lunch, set up camp, and in the course of the afternoon, a game drive where we position ourselves on the migration route of the elephant. Dinner and night in the bush camp.
Day 5
Day of safari and flying over Amboseli. We’ll take breakfast as we watch the elephants pass by. This is not like the other game parks and the omnipresence of the highest African mountain gives to Amboseli a special atmosphere. Here a beautiful light prevails and gives the area a peculiar clearness. It is probably due to alkaline dry lake, where whirlwinds lift white dust. Mirages shimmer on the horizon, contrasting with green emerald swamps furrowed by elephants. Dinner and night in our bush camp.
Day 6
After breakfast, pack up camp, and leave by vehicle and plane to Tsavo Park, and we exchange places in the plane during the course of the day. In Tsavo we will be permitted to fly low for aeriel surveillance, as I am involved in the environmental work protecting this large ecosystem. We set up camp and watch a presentation about the remaining endangered rhinoceros given by one of the rangers. In choosing this safari, you have adopted a black rhino, so your presence is of benefit to this costly monitoring and protection of the rhino in this zone. Safari in 4x4. and finish the day in the rhino sanctuary. We will be allowed to observe the wildlife froma hide, close to a water hole, where it is quite possible to see some of the rare wild dog on occasion. Dinner and night in the bush.
Day 7
After breakfast, pack up camp for a beautiful day exploring Tsavo by plane and by car, in an area where we will be on the lookout for the migration of elephant, in coordination with the needs of the park. Set up camp near an old rangers post in the immensity of Tsavo. Diner and night in our bush camp.
Day 8
After breakfast, pack up camp, for another day of discovery by air and vehicle towards the south end of the park, near Lake Jipe, famous for its bird life and elephants. Set up camp, and take a drive together along the Lake shore. Dinner and night in the bush camp.
Day 9
Breakfast, safari in 4 x 4 , pack up camp, another lovely day, either by road and air looking for elephant, and reporting on any illegal cattle movements in the park. We go to a research centre of Rukinga, set up camp, take a walk, and an evening flight and drive.
